I haven’t played Insurgence yet and I’m really looking forward to (loved zeta/omicron) and my main concern is having to start over or doing a lot of backtracking once the final content patch is released. I realize this question might not have a definitive answer but hopefully someone who has followed zeta/omicron/insurgence’s development can share some insight.
…how exactly would new content be “in the middle”? it’s not like the game is complete story wise in 1.1. Of course we have to go after what we had in 1.1. Not to be rude, i just don’t understand the logic in the question?
It’s probably my fault not being too clear with my previous post. As I haven’t played the game yet I don’t really know how far the story goes or just how close to completed the game is right now. All I know is there’s quite a bit of content but there’s a lot more coming with the next patch.
The way new content could be “in the middle” is by completing areas that are only half-done (like maybe there’s a cave that serves no purpose as of now or something similar) or by adding new events, pokemon, items, etc. to areas that are already in the game. These types of changes would make it weird or difficult to continue a playthrough (as opposed to restarting) when the patch hits.
Thanks for your reply, hopefully now my question makes more sense.
The save files will carry over, you won’t have to restart if that’s your only concern.

It’d mostly be done for rockclimb(there’s a hidden grotto accessible only if you have rock climb in the crossroads currently), waterfall etc. And the stuff you already do for tesseract, but that’s already in the game. You may get similar stuff with other abilities that’d be implemented in 1.2 but nothing too different than what’s in the original games.
Edit: Since you can use fly or pikataxi, the amount of walking/cycling you’d do when backtracking shouldn’t be too much.
Suze’s screenshots show that the majority of the new content will be added after the current stuff. When rock climb is added then you can backtrack to a particular place(ex: Crossroads as Sleepy said).
basically yes, story wise probably not, but some areas will be added in areas already made. in the past they added new megas so the stones were in places you passed couple of items and tms here and there but you wouldnt HAVE to back track to complete the game. I think you should jus hold out til the next update comes out since you waited this long
