Does the unburden ability work right now or is it glitched out? I used the flying gem on an adamant Hawlucha level 50 while it has unburden but a Steelix still out-sped me. Even if the Steelix had a choice scarf, wouldn’t unburden still out-speed the Steelix? This is why i feel like unburden is not working or glitched. I feel like the move payback doesn’t work as intended either.
(I used acrobatics after i already used the flying gem)
Just did some math, Starmie’s max speed at level 50 is 183 and if unburden still doubles speed stat after losing an item my speed would be from 131 to 232, way higher than Starmie’s (proven unscarfed) which means unburden is confirmed not working as intended if it still doubles the speed stat, if it doesn’t double the speed stat then please check how much it does and correct me (i cant find it)
As you’ve said that your Hawlucha is level 50 I’m assuming that this is taking place in the Battle Frontier, in which case the Steelix you faced was holding a Quick Claw.
I cannot form a definitive conclusion with the Starmie with the information that you have provided, however. Did you switch out at any point after losing your item? Did the Starmie use Trick to give you a Choice Specs? Where any other Speed modifiers present?
no speed modifiers and no quick claw, i would’ve seen it. Its 100 percent not working if it still doubles the speed after using an item. Its plausible that the Steelix could have a choice scarf since it just used explosion no? (Yes its in the battle frontier btw) Starmie did not use trick, I did not switch out either. It has to be broken.
Ok maybe the steelix could have had a quick claw and i was too lazy to see it but it is plausible that it had a choice scarf unless the code does not allow it because at max 252+ speed on a steelix it gets 90 at level 50 and with a choice scarf equipped it boosts it up to 135 which is faster than my Hawlucha even though the item was already used.
Quick Claw doesn’t produce a prompt or animation indicating that it has activated as it still uses Gen 2/3 mechanics. I created the file that loads in every single Pokemon that appears in battle facilities outside of the Pokemon World Tournament; there is no Steelix that holds a Choice Scarf, however there is a Steelix that holds a Quick Claw and knows Explosion.
The conditions with the Starmie are the only ones that appear to indicate something isn’t working correctly. Since I can’t see what the code is doing directly I’d have to test this more extensively later when I have time.
Ok thanks, tell me what you find out when you get the chance.
I don’t know if you’ve had the time but have you discovered anything about the glitch?
It doesn’t look like it works at all.
I’ve had a lot of situations where I wasn’t sure if it was just because I was using a Flying Gem or if the boost wore off when a new Pokemon was switched in, but I just set up a scenario in the Battle Tower where I was guaranteed to get outsped by a higher leveled Watchog, survive with a Focus Sash, and then, if Unburden worked properly, outspeed the next turn. Both turns resulted in the Watchog being faster and as I checked to confirm that no Watchog holds a Quick Claw in the Battler Frontier list, the only possibility is that the ability just doesn’t work.
Looks like my theory was correct then. Will this be fixed in a future update, uh, If there IS a future update?
