When choosing your first pokemon, does the preview appear shiny if the pokemon inside is shiny? Also, if I backup my save right before choosing the pokemon, will it generate another one each time I try them or is it seeded RNG? Trying to save me some time resetting.
As long as you can save before you chose the Pokemon then you can soft reset it for anything. Also, the shiny for the starter can only be seen when you start the battle.
