Your follower must be out. It could be gone if the first pokemon in your party is fainted, armored (may be wrong about this), or simply bugged.

If the first two conditions I listed are false and you appear to have a simply bugged follower, then blacking out from a fight should fix your follower.

I tried all the above mentioned steps. I lost to wild pokemons went back to Abyssal cult and used seed flare but it didn’t work.
