Further info: I’m SR’ing for a shiny Mew and I really don’t want to screw things up. So, I was hoping to borrow a high-ish level Smeargle with Spore/False Swipe/whatever other moves regular catcher Smeargles have. I would NOT be keeping it permanently, just until I get a shiny Mew. Rare Candy will be given to the Smeargle to hold upon returning it. Thanks!

In theory, yes, but I have an unfortunate habit of wanting to match colors between the shiny Pokemon and the PokeBall they are caught with (in this case, I’d say Dive/Delta Ball would be the closest match to shiny Mew).
