Looking for advice for my team

So, I’m replaying the game for the umpteenth dozen time without using trading from another file.

I chose Bulbasaur as my starter (Best one in my opinion) and I’m currently at West. Anyone have a solid team idea for him and the Ray fight that comes after.

Most of my team is around 50ish since I thought I had a little bit more leeway before they’d stop disobeying.

I mean, I just don’t really want multiples of the same type. So any suggestions of things that I can get up to that point.
