I would say that Delta Haxorus can sometime be more effective then Empoleon, but there’s nothing wrong with using Empleon. Choice Scarf Delta Gardevoir is also very effective as it can revenge kill practically any Dragon Type in the game. I feel like Magmortar could be switched for something else, maybe Speed Boost Blaziken, Rotom-Heat or Volcarona, but if you play on easy mode, it frankly doesn’t matter. On Normal mode, then it would depend on the sets you are using.
I would rather pick Gengar then D.Charizard personally.
If you defeat the 6th Gym, then you unlock a whole new world of possibilities: the friend safari. At that point, you can encounter starter with their hidden ability, like the previously mentioned Speed Boost Blaziken and Contrary Serperior.
