Is Tyrantrum Better Than Delta Muk

I want a good ground type so i was wondering

Between Tyrantrum and Delta Muk: Delta Muk. Reason: Tyrantrum is not a Ground type.

its a ground dragon

It’s Rock/Dragon.

Like the others have said, Tyrantrum is Rock Dragon. However, since I like both pokemon and have used them both pretty extensively, allow me to give some insight to help you choose between them.

If you’re looking for a solid ground type, Muk is your only option here. It’s pretty dang powerful in my opinion, though it’s speed could use some work. I enjoy having Delta Muk on my team, it cuts through poison, rock, and fire types like no one’s business. A lot of its moves are also useful in applying accuracy and speed debuffs, which greatly benefit Delta Muk. A single bulldoze is often enough to give Delta Muk an edge speed wise, if it doesn’t outright kill the target. Plus, it gets the infamous earthquake.

Tyrantrum can run a few good sets and I’ve got experience with a few. On Alpha Sapphire, I’ve bred a Tyrantrum that had Dragon Dance (from Tyranitar), Fire Fang, Thunder Fang, and Crunch. All the bite moves have a chance at flinch, with fire having a burn chance, thunder a paralysis, and Crunch just being brutal. Strong jaw boosts the damage of each of these by 30% too, basically giving STAB. They hit reasonably hard. The major problem is speed. But dragon dance, paralysis and flinch can help mitigate that. Trick room may also be viable, though I haven’t tried it.

The second set I’ve used is from a wonder challenge I played in Y. It came with Crunch, Poison Fang, Dragon Tail, and Stealth Rocks. Crunch gets Strong Jaw boost with flinch chance. Poison Fang deals decent damage thanks to strong jaw(which it needs), poisons the foe, and punishes fairies. Dragon Tail hits hard for STAB, and anything it doesn’t outright knock out gets sent out of battle. If you have stealth rocks set up, the next pokemon to enter gets hurt by rocks, and when your opponent brings back their already damaged Mon, it’s possible that it’ll be knocked out by the rocks. Generally speaking, Tyrantrum has a bit of bulk, but can’t take too many hits. You’re honestly better off having rocks set up before Tyrantrum enters the field. Finding a way to reduce the opponent’s speed or boost your own also helps get Tyrantrum the opportunity to do what it does best. Items I recommend are leftovers and rocky helmet though competitive speed boosting items are also a good bet.

There is another set using its hidden ability, sheer force, but I havent used it myself. Hope this helps

P.S. If Delta Muk sets up a sandstorm, it can boost the Sp. Def of Tyrantrum. You may want to consider using both.
