So um I was progressing through the game normally, and I didn’t use a shiny charm or anything that increases shiny odds, and randomly found a Shiny Ninetales before arriving at Sonata City without hunting for one. Is this normal???

Well, yeah, that’s perfectly normal. Rare doesn’t mean impossible.

Random 1 in 8000 chance. I found 2 random shiny pokemon just playing through the story also.

^^ What Peter said. This has happened to me two times in a row. Once with a shiny foongus and secondly, with a shiny gastly.
Also gg on the ninetails. Its shiny is AWESOME

Actually, basic odds have been lowered to 1/4096 for this game.
