Is there a way to disable EXP gain?

So I am using traded Pokemon that are at the level cap allowed by the badge I currently have (Stinger Badge) and because of the boosted EXP gain it is tough to use them in battle without going over that cap and having them not listen to me. Basically, is there a way to ensure that they can’t level up without using the hard mode 1 EXP gain thing?
