How do I use eggs?

In the generate eggs feature, once you’re done it asks for a file name, then says the egg has been added to your eggs bag. Am I wrong in assuming this means the name of the game save file you want the egg to be placed in? Also, I don’t have an egg bag in the game, is that an item you get later, or am I missing something?
