How am I supposed to get a Chimchar?

So in Murk Forest, there is a hidden grotto that has the possibility of having a chimchar in it. When I went into the grotto there was no chimchar and only an item. Is there a way to reset it so I can get a chimchar? I want to have it as my own so I could over level it.

next time, save before going in and you can soft reset and get something else if you don’t like it
