I downloaded the most recent core version (1.1.7) and it appeared in my applications. I then added it to my dock and tried to open it and got this error:
The application X11 could not be opened. An error occurred while starting the X11 server: “Failed to activate core devices.”
Click Quit to quit X11. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple.
The window then closes by itself. Is this a known problem? Any help would be fantastic as I am hype for this game.
Try getting rid of X11 off your computer as it’s Apple version of the X server, a component of the X Window System, for Mac OS X. It could be that the old version of X11 (now known as XQuartz) is no longer compatible with your current OS and is causing problems with windows related files. (Make sure to empty your trash to remove X11 (if you have it) completely).
If that doesn’t work, install Wine and download the windows version. When you use wine to open up the windows version, click on the option: “This is an app, copy all the files in the same folder” option and save it to your desktop or Applications folder and run it from there.

Thanks this was very helpful. However when I try to move x11 to the trash it gives me this message:
“X11” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by OS X."
Should I download Wine without uninstalling x11?
