General Thoughts and feelings on the game?

As someone who has tested this game since the beginning, I have found this game to be very enjoyable.

However, I would like to know your general thoughts on the game. I’ve recommended it to several friends, and they all love it.

So what about you?

One of the best Pokemon games, if not the best, I ever played. All the little inconveniences that annoys me in the main series game is pretty much accounted for such as seeing your IV/EV, nicknaming traded Pokemon, secret base NPCs, etc. The storyline and music is also really well done. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the game, looking forward to the next update.

I have to divide my feelings up, as I have different opinions on different parts of the game. I’m going to try to be vague with spoilers for the sake of anyone who hasn’t gotten as far as the end of the most recent version.

I chose the original story mode (darker), so I knew from the start it was going to have death, and I can’t say much for lighter story mode. That being said, I do think this story is a bit more…I guess tasteful with death? Like I was worried this would go the way of grimdark Pokemon romhacks and have random NPCs die left and right after the start in the Darkrai Cult base, but I’m pleasantly surprised. There are some characters I wished were developed more before they died, but otherwise I’m satisfied with what’s happened so far.

The cults are interesting, I can’t deny that. The Perfection cult, I love to hate after all they’ve done, more or less. I’m on the fence on three of them worshipping different members of the Weather Trio, and at times their motivations can come across as murky (especially the Infernal Cult when you first properly encounter them), but I find them interesting nonetheless.

I feel like Damian is sometimes treated a bit poorly by the narrative, though I’m hoping that will come back to bite people as the story is continued. Nora, I love just as much as Damian, and I’m hoping she’ll be okay by the end of the story.

The little time-saving things in the game (shortening the pokemon center stuff, autorun, and all that jazz) are greatly appreciated. The Poketaxi I’m not a big fan of, but hey, it’s a good Fly replacement. Heck, the HM replacements in general are great and I wish they were in the official games.

I love the Delta Pokemon and fan Mega Evolutions. A good portion of my team is composed of Delta Pokemon, and I love them so much. I almost wish you could get the other Delta Starter you didn’t choose without trading with someone online, to be honest.

I guess all in all, I love this game, even though there are some parts I’m not necessarily a fan of. I’m eager for it to be finished.

I think that the best thing about this game for me is the Pacing. It does a fairly good job through most of the game giving a good sense of progression going through the game. This likely is due in large part to the long development time that the game has had. There’s plenty of things to do, and you don’t just blitz through 3 gyms in an hour or two of game play as you can in some of the older games. I feel that most events has a pretty good break in between it and the next that isn’t too long or too short to keep things both interesting, and memorable.

It touched me in my no-no zone. :persevere:

And by that i mean my heart because i love it :stuck_out_tongue:

For me, there are many reasons for liking this game:

  1. Speed boost. Seriously, most fanmade Pokemon game runs in 40fps without any way to boost it except 3rd party software like Cheat Engine. This game offers speed boost internally.
  2. Visible status modifier in battle and visible IV/EV. Nuff said.
  3. No fakemon! Even I hate fakemon so much, but Delta Pokemon sprites and Custom Mega still can be accepted. It also has purity mode for those who also hate Delta Pokemon and Custom Mega.
  4. The PvP is good, Delta Pokemon and Custom Mega doesn’t break ordinary Pokemon’s roles. The one that is changed maybe Eevee in Little Cup, from Baton Passer into a sweeper because of a custom move tutor.

Though on storyline, it seems that the story is somewhat inspired by Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey on NDS. For example, infections of Damian and Jimenez. Nora’s attitude towards cultists somehow resembled Zelenin’s attitude towards demons. That’s why somehow I have the feeling that this game has three endings.

The bad things about this game: Purity mode and light mode are somewhat abandoned. There are many event-related bug in light mode, for example the Gengar in the very first room, a blocking event in laboratory, and Melody sprite in Suntouched gym. Purity mode still has custom mega stone like Flygonite, which maybe should be changed into Steelixite, Delta Gardevoirite and Delta Galladite, which should be changed into normal ones, Delta Scizorite, which should be changed into normal Scizorite, and lastly Eevite, which maybe should be changed into Audinite.
