When I go to the little arena area with Diana, it freezes then crashes, and since it saves the game before the crash I am stuck in the loop and am unable to play the game at all. I had the same problem with Orion but it was resolved after multiple restarts. This one looks persistent tho.
If you don’t have Internet the game crashes when starting gym battles. Check if that’s the problem.

Is there a plan for this to be quote-en-quote fixed?
It does this so that there is data on how many attempts players took, how many players have completed the gym, etc. I don’t know of any plans to fix it when there is no Internet but you can try to see if it works in future updates.
