Can't start a new game

I have a Mac with OSX Yosemite 10.10.5

. I’ve tried using the Mac version, and I’ve tried using the Windows version in Virtualbox. Neither of them work. The Mac version just goes straight to a black screen and does nothing after I hit the “new game” button, and the Windows version (1.2.3 core) goes to the black screen, and then says “The script is taking too long. The game will restart.” It then saves the game and crashes, and next time I open the game it says that the save file is corrupted and tells me to delete it.

I have no idea what’s causing this, or how I can fix it. I tried using a solution found on Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonInsurgence/comments/3nt6ga/insurgence_stopped_working_on_your_mac_heres_the/) for the Mac version, but it didn’t work.

What may be happening is that your computer is not able to process all the things at are going on. Virtualbox will probably work the best, so try that while having nothing open, and do the same thing on regular Mac OSX.
