Substitute is good if you want to create setup opportunities, but at the cost of potions. Some of the drawbacks can be mitigated with Pain Split. Lookout, since Giratinaā€™s HP are so high, wait until you have very low HP to use it. On the SubSplit set, I prefer Aura Sphere because the it has perfect coverage aside from Delta Ambipom, however none of the NPC ever uses it.

Why Shadow Ball over Shadow Force ?

Special attackers arenā€™t vulnerable to Intimidate or burns. Also, I donā€™t like Shadow Force outside of New Moon because of the two turns it uses to strike the opponent.

Also, some bulkier spreads are viable for Primal Giratina. I just didnā€™t felt like searching.

What does the move Pain Split do .

Is it like recover with attacking the foe

Pain Split add your current HP to the HP of your opponent and split it in two, giving you half each. It doesnā€™t work against substitute.

Do you mean by this :-

If you have 3 HP and your Foe have 21 HP

Then if you use Pain Split then ,
Adds your current HP with your Opponent ā†’ 3+21=24
Split it into Two ā†’ 24/2=12
Giving you half of each ā†’ 12/2=6 HP

Is this how we calculate ?

Not sure if thatā€™s what you ment, but taking your example.

If you have 3 HP and your Foe have 21 HP

Then if you use Pain Split then ,
Adds your current HP with your Opponent ā†’ 3+21=24
Split it into Two ā†’ 24/2=12
Both of you will end up at ā†’ 12 HP
