Analyzing Mega Delta Lopunny

Honestly Mega D. Lopunny is not talked about enough and I think its a pretty unique Pokemon, let’s get into the analysis.

Typing: Psychic/Fighting. Pretty decent. Offensively its a pretty good typing, defensively it is resistant to Fighting and Rock, but Weak to Flying, Ghost, and Fairy.

Base Stats:
HP: 65
Atk: 76 (136)
Def: 84 (94)
SpA: 54
SpD: 96
Speed: 105 (135)
Parenthesis for after mega evo.

Honestly, fantastic base stats. Low HP but pretty decent defenses in 94/96. Its attack is fantastic in 136, and its speed in 135 is great. Having a bad special attack is worth it for the extra investment in attack and speed.

Ability:

Infiltrator - Allows moves to bypass target’s Reflect, Light Screen, Safeguard, Mist, Aurora Veil, and Substitutes - This ability is great with the movepool D. Lopunny. It unfortunately doesn’t bypass protect which could be risky, but it is worth it in my opinion since most people use Substitutes

Before mega I would go Limber, which prevents it from getting paralysis, because a speed decrease is the exact opposite of what D. Lopunny needs.

Movepool:

Wow, this Pokemon truly gets everything. For STAB fighting it gets a variety of different moves including High Jump Kick, Drain Punch, Jump Kick, Low Kick, and Mach Punch. For Psychic STAB it gets Zen Headbutt or Heart Stamp, whichever you prefer. For coverage moves, it gets Stone Edge, U-turn (which is HUGE), Knock Off (also HUGE), Ice Punch, Iron Head, Fire Punch, and Thunder Punch. Fantastic movepool, my only complaint is that it unfortunately does not get Earthquake or Close Combat.

Status move wise it doesn’t get much. Unfortunately, this Pokemon doesn’t get Swords Dance (which makes sense cause it would be absolutely broken), but Bulk Up is definitely a somewhat viable option.

Now, let’s get into my sets.

Standard Set

Delta Lopunny @ D. Lopunnite
Adamant/Jolly Nature
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Speed
Ability: Limber (Infiltrator)

  • High Jump Kick
  • Zen Headbutt
  • Stone Edge
  • U-turn
Set Notes: Combined with Infiltrator, High Jump Kick is amazing as it can bypass substitutes. U-turn if you get an extremely defensive Pokemon, and Stone Edge / Zen Headbutt used as coverage.
Coverage Set

Delta Lopunny @ D. Lopunnite
Adamant/Jolly Nature
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Speed
Ability: Limber (Infiltrator)

  • High Jump Kick
  • Zen Headbutt
  • Ice Punch
  • Electric Punch
Set Notes: Having the Ice/Electric combo of coverage moves is pretty good combined with STAB. I would still run the first set personally though.
Other Options

Setting up with Bulk Up could be used, especially on physical Pokemon. Also, Knock Off is really viable and could be used on any of these sets.
