Analyzing Delta Scyther

Im bored so why not do one more today. Analyzing both Delta Scyther and Delta Scizor Let’s get right into it!

Typing: Ice / Fighting - Defensively horrible, offensively gets a great amount of coverage. It has resistances to Bug, Ice, and Dark, while being Weak to Fighting, Flying, Steel, Fire, Psychic, and Fairy, which make its defenses bad.

Abilities:

  1. Hustle: Trades 50% attack boost for a 20% accuracy decrease - Great when paired with Hone Claws.
  2. Super Luck: Increases critical hit ratio - Great ability with a Scope Lens and increased critical hit ratio moves.
  3. Ice Cleats: Raises speed in Hail - Pretty much 0 viability, If you are using a Hail team then D. Scizor is the better choice.

Base Stats:

HP: 70
Atk: 110
Def: 80
SpA: 55
SpD: 80
Spe: 100

Pretty good stats altogether, 110 attack and 100 speed go great together, and 80 Def and SpD aren’t bad but coupled with its bad typing its not great and could get KOed while trying to set up.

Moveset:
For STAB moves, it gets Icicle Crash, Close Combat, Cross Chop, and Drain Punch. For coverage, it gets Stone Edge, Iron Head (great flinch chance) Knock Off (Removing items is super useful), Shadow Claw and Night Slash(Increased crit ratio), Pursuit (to hit targets possibly switching out), and U-turn (to switch out). It also gets Hone Claws to fix its accuracy problem, as well as Swords Dance, Roost, and Tailwind though I don’t recommend using them.

Hustle Claws

Delta Scyther @ Eviolite
Jolly Nature
Hustle Ability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

  • Hone Claws
  • Close Combat / Cross Chop
  • Icicle Crash
  • Stone Edge
Set Notes: Set up with Hone Claws, then wreak havoc on the enemy team. It is hard to switch this Pokemon in, so its better as a revenge killer.
EDIT: On a New Moon team, this set could be used to give the same attack boost as Swords Dance. You might also want to run Night Slash with New Moon.
Crityther

Delta Scyther @ Scope Lens
Jolly Nature
Super Luck Ability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

  • Cross Chop
  • Stone Edge
  • Night Slash
  • Psycho Cut
Set Notes: Pretty gimicky tbh, but it could definitely be fun to run as every single blow will be a crit. Might want to replace Psycho Cut with Hone Claws to patch accuracy though.
Banded Scyther

Delta Scyther @ Choice Band (poss Life Orb also)
Jolly Nature
Hustle Ability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

  • Icicle Crash
  • Close Combat
  • Stone Edge
  • U-turn
Set Notes: Banded Scyther hits HARD with Close Combat or any of the moves mentioned when it is given a Choice Band and has Hustle. However, this is pretty risky as well as it could possibly miss given decreased accuracy.
Hail D. Scizor

Delta Scizor @ Life Orb / Choice Band
Jolly Nature
Ice Cleats Ability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

  • Close Combat
  • Icicle Shard
  • Stone Edge
  • U-turn
Set Notes: Coupled with Hail, D. Scizor is the way to go. It has a massive attack and can be used extremely well. Outside of Hail, I would never use this competitively
Other Options:

Pursuit is a great move, and Drain Punch used with a high HP stat could always be a possibility. However, I would stick to the sets listed and most likely use the Hustle Claws set.
