This Pokemon was my favorite Pokemon in my first run to E4. It looks sick and is so much fun to use. Lets get right into the analysis!
Typing: Water / Steel
Water / Steel typing is among the best in the game. It gives D. Hax resistances to Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Steel, Water, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy, and also has an immunity to Poison. It has weaknesses to Ground, Electric, and Fighting, but it’s resistances far outweigh its weaknesses.
Abilities
- Water Veil - Water Veil gives D. Hax immunity to burns. This is D. Hax’s best ability in my opinion, as a burn nerfs D. Hax’s masssive attack (However, a Lum/Rawst Berry could be used instead of Water Veil)
- Heavy Metal - Heavy Metal doubles D. Hax’s weight. It is pretty good, it is more risky than Water Veil but gives D. Hax access to a powerful move in Heavy Slam.
- Strong Jaw - Strong Jaw boosts Biting moves by 50%. In my opinion, it is D. Hax’s weakest ability but it can still be used, as it gets access to STAB Ice Fang, Poison Fang, and Crunch.
Movepool:
It gets pretty decent moves. For starters in most sets it uses Swords Dance (sd) , which basically doubles D. Hax’s base Attack stat to 294, which is just INSANE. For STAB water moves it can use sd with either Aqua Tail or Aqua Jet. For STAB steel moves it can use sd with either Iron Head or Bullet Punch (Or, you could use Heavy Slam with Heavy Metal). Its coverage moves aren’t the best, but it gets what it needs in Earthquake and Superpower / Low Kick. Unless you use Strong Jaw, I would not recommend using Crunch, Ice Fang, or Poison Fang. It also gets Draco Jet, which is a pretty good priority move.
Now, here are the sets I created.
Swords Dance Sweeper
D. Haxorus @ Life Orb
Ability: Water Veil
Nature: Jolly / Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Speed
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head / Bullet Punch
- Aqua Tail / Aqua Jet / Waterfall
- Earthquake / Superpower / Knock Off
Set Notes: First sure the Pokemon in is resistant to D. Hax, so it doesn’t get 0KH’ed. Switch D. Hax in and use Swords Dance, then sweep the opponents team. After using Swords Dance, Superpower can be viable as it can take a notch in attack, but I would prefer Earthquake for its coverage. Knock off gives coverage and can deal decent damage.
Metallica - Heavy Metal Set
Delta Haxorus @ Lum Berry
Ability: Heavy Metal
Nature: Jolly / Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Speed
- Heavy Slam
- Swords Dance
- Aqua Tail / Aqua Jet / Waterfall
- Low Kick / Earthquake / Knock Off
Set Notes: Basically set up the exactly same as the Swords Dance sweeper, and use Heavy Slam to wipe your opponents. If you are facing a Heavy opponent, you may want to use Low Kick as it is a foil to Heavy Slam.
Jaws of Life - Strong Jaw Set
Delta Haxorus @ Lum Berry
Ability: Strong Jaw
Nature: Jolly / Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Speed
- Aqua Tail / Waterfall
- Ice Fang / Poison Fang
- Crunch
- Earthquake
Set Notes: I know right away people will probably comment why doesn’t this have Iron Head at STAB, but with Crunch replacing Iron Head as a STAB move, this moveset has more coverage.
Bandxorus - Choice Band Set
Delta Haxorus @ Choice Band
Ability: Water Veil
Nature: Jolly / Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Speed
- Waterfall
- Iron Head
- Superpower
- Stone Edge
Set Notes: With 147 Attack, when Banded this thing does massive damage. It can also be used with a Choice Scarf and an Adamant Nature.
Other Options
One option includes running Hone Claws. This fixes the 1/10th chance that Aqua Tail doesn’t hit. If you run Hone Claws, you can also use Iron Tail instead of Iron Head, because it gives you more base power, patches its accuracy problem, and gives you a nice secondary ability in flinching. Another option is running Draco Jet for priority, but I don’t see how it fits into these sets
Let me know your thoughts on the analysis and if I should keep on making more. Thanks!
