Pretty interesting Pokemon, let’s get into it, lmk your thoughts.
Typing: Fairy typing is really good. It is resistant to Dark, Fighting, and Bug, while being weak to Poison and Steel and being immune to Dragon.
Ability:
- Simple: Great ability. It doubles stat boosts, instead of making Swords Dance increase attack 2 stages, it increases it 4 stages which is great to have
- Heatproof: Decent ability. It halves damage from Fire attacks and makes Pokemon immune to Burns. It is decent because burns are a big weakness of D. Escavalier, but Simple is much more viable in competitive.
- Sleep Veil: Prevents Pokemon and adjacent Pokemon from going to sleep. Decent ability, doesn’t see much use in competitive.
Base Stats:
HP: 70
Atk: 135
Def: 105
SpA: 60
SpD: 105
Speed: 20
Pretty good stat spread. It has super low speed which can be bad, but paired with Trick Room it can be a viable sweeper. It also has good bulk in 70/105/105 which allows it to tank one or two hits from neutral targets.
Movepool: Decent. It gets what it wants, but not much.
For physical moves, it gets Play Rough, Superpower / Cross Chop / Brick Break, Gyro Ball (which is great with its low speed), Wild Charge, Rock Slide, Zen Headbutt, and Knock Off. Nothing fantastic, but decent movepool.
For status moves, it gets Swords Dance, which is really all it needs. Charm is also viable, as it can forces physical Pokemon to switch. Slack Off is good to provide heals.
Now, let’s get into the set - there are other options but one main one.
Simple Sweeper
Delta Escavalier @ Leftovers
Ability: Simple
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Knock Off
- Slack Off
Set Notes: Possibly switch into an attack and use Slack Off, or set up with Swords Dance and heal with Slack Off. Play Rough and Knock Off both hit really powerfully at +4.
Trick Room Sweeper
Delta Escavalier @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Simple
Brave Nature (+Atk,-Speed)
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 SpD, 0IV Speed
- Swords Dance
- Gyro Ball
- Play Rough
- Knock Off
Set Notes: This set really needs trick room to be viable, so I recommend having a trick room user on your team. Set up Swords Dance, and you can basically sweep any Pokemon with +4 attack and a 135 base attack stat. Gyro Ball is gonna be your normal spam move, it does a lot if it hits neutrally. Play Rough is good STAB, and Knock Off is good to remove an item and do neutral damage.
Other Options
A set utilizing Charm can be good to remove a physical attacker. Also, fighting moves are good as coverage and Slack off is good to heal (if you run slack off you might want max EVs in HP).
