Beating Insurgence With Red's Team From GSC

I decided I will go with Arcanine . Charizard is very weak and also have 4x weakness to rock

What do you think

I agree with this. You get a nice defensive Pokémon with access to priority in Extreme Speed. Could also be used offensively with Wild Charge. During my Hard Mode playthrough, Arcanine was good pretty much until Diana. At that point, It became kinda underwhelming, but I managed to keep it until the E4.

Wow Great !!!

But can anyone suggest movesets for Pikachu

Alright, let’s dive into it.

As for Pikachu, I can see only one way to play it: as a Wallbreaker that, kinda like Starraptor, will faint extremely fast due to its own recoil.

Pikachu @ Light Ball
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Volt Tackle
-Fake Out
-Volt Switch
-Custom move [Ice]

However, this require his hidden ability and egg move in the form of Fake Out and Volt Tackle.

Why two electric moves (Volt tackle and switch) ?

It doesn’t have much coverage in the first place, thus why I gave it your only avaliable Custom Move on the team and why Volt Switch is used as a pivot option and not a real offensive move. It’s either this or the dissapointing Brick Break.

Good news is that his Volt Tackle can 2HKO an Eviolite Chansey, but it will faint from the recoil.

You could go for a Mega Eevee. I haven’t used it personally, but I think a set consisting of:

Eevee @ eeveeite
Ability: Run Away
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Thunderbolt
-Moonblast
-Psychic / Psyshock
-Ice Beam

Than counts as an Espeon, right?

Yeah I will use mega eeve with psychic thats great than an espeon

But how do Pikachu learn fake out and volt tackle ???

Fake Out is an egg move (and a move tutor move in insurgence, in utira town, inside the library.) and you get volt tackle by breeding a pikachu while its holding a light ball, i think.

Thank you very much

As you don’t have a particulary good Sun team core, then Venusaur should have this:
Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Leaf Storm
-Sludge Bomb
-Synthesis
-Sleep Powder

Standard offensive set, but it’s a slow one. That’s your team main problem: it is slow. No PokĂ©mon are above 95 speed aside from Eevee, wich mean you are often require to take a hit before attacking, that can be annoying against PokĂ©mon like Nyx’s Garchomp, Adam’s Greninja or the many Mega Flygon you will face. For this reason, you must capitalyse on your Arcanina for it’s Extreme Speed as much as possible. The offensive set is the only one you can afford.

Arcanine @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Flare Blitz
-Extreme Speed
-Wild Charge
-Close Combat

I would heavely be tempted to suggest you pick Delta Blastoise, but since I propose Mega Eevee, that isn’t an option. So here is a defensive Blastoise set.

Blastoise @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
-Scald
-Rapid Spin
-Toxic
-Refresh / Protect

Also, Curselax. That s**t will carry your team.

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 188 HP / 144 Def / 176 SpD
Careful Nature
-Curse
-Return
-Rest
-Sleep Talk / Earthquake

Pikachu learns Volt Tackle when, at the moment of breeding, the mother holds the Light Ball. This way, the Pichu will learn Volt Tackle. As for Fake Out, the father must have it in its moveset. Compatible parents with Fake Out as a level up move are: Meowth, Persian, Nuzleaf, Sheftree, Purrlion, Liepard, Mienfoo, Mienshao and Smeargle.

I think lapras is better than blastoise .

  1. Squirtell is very hard to obtain .
  2. Lapras have 2 types

However, it is Ice type. Ice is famous for it’s horrible defensive typing, it remove one of your Fire resist, you also have Ice Beam on mega Eevee, but ok. Let’s go for Lapras. Your best bet would be a Choice Specs set.

Lapras @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
-Hydro Pump
-Freeze-Dry
-Ice Beam
-Hidden Power Fire

I mean, Machamp could be good. You also already have Eevee as a Vaporeon for you to fill the Water type.

Yeah thats right

Something like that

Machamp @ Assault Vest
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Dynamic Punch
-Knock Off
-Heavy Slam / Bullet Punch
-Stone Edge / Bullet Punch

I have been waiting to take and evolve a machop we get before first gym
